HARDER THAN MY DEMONS
Big Sean over the past few years has been a little quiet as an artist. He hasn’t dropped a project since 2017. The last project he dropped was with Metro Boomin, the reviews were not bad (but not great either). We all know Big Sean has put out stronger projects than his last efforts and that’s not a slight, certain artist have set the bar high, even for themselves.
Last month, Big Sean dropped D2 and it became the #1 album a week later. But more than doing the numbers and achieving his third number one album in a row, the album is full. There’s a lot of music on this album and Sean Don doesn’t waste a track. He sounds fresh and revived. He absolutely sounds like whatever he’s been doing in the past three years has paid off.
Big Sean, talks about having heart problems on the song Lucky Me rapping the lyrics
“Man, lucky me
I was diagnosed with a heart disease at 19
Could barely stand on my feet
Doctors said they had to cut it open, put a pacemaker on it to put it back on beat
'Til my mama took me to holistic doctors and they prescribed me magnesium for two weeks
Went back to the regular doctors and they said, "Huh, damn, looks like we don't need to proceed"
That's how I know that western medicine weak”
These are things I think Sean’s biggest fans probably don’t even know about him. He found a way convey a message and tell a true story from his life and I think that’s what makes for not just a good song, but a legendary one.
Big Sean has spoken about clearing up negativity with Kendrick Lamar. He also put every dope artist in Detroit on one song. One of my favorite songs from Big Sean’s latest album is Full Circle where enlist Diddy to go on a journey of signs that some may people take as coincidences, but Big Sean believes are signs of confirmation he is on the right path. I like this Sean.
