The Voice of New York, Angie Martinez. Angie is a Legendary radio personality and is extremely important to Hip-Hop culture. She has interviewed everyone in rap from T.I. to 2pac. She always seems to make artists feel comfortable enough to talk to her about anything. She has a talent for making people feel like they’re just having a conversation and not on air.

Angie started out coming up in that radio game under Funk Master Flex in 1994. This was at HOT 97. Before the breakfast club when HOT97 was the number one radio station in the tri-state area. Angie was the voice you would hear every afternoon in New York. She’s interviewed some of the biggest artists at some of their biggest moments.

Angie Martinez spent 20 years at HOT 97 until she ultimately resigned. Why? When Angie left it was like if Kobe left the Lakers. What happened? For some reason, after 20 years Angie felt like she couldn’t grow at that station and wanted more. She goes across the street to Power 105 and takes her listeners with her. Angie has inspired plenty of radio personalities including Angela Yee and Charlemagne Tha God.
