FLOWERS: ELLIOTT WILSON (LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT)
Elliott Wilson is the G.O.A.T. of Hip-Hop Journalism. He’s covered numerous Hip Hop moments and has left his footprint as the number one person to go to if you want to have a high-caliber and meaningful interview. He has accomplished many things in the culture. He has been a journalist, television producer, Tidal music curator, and he also is the CEO of Rap Radar. Queens get the money.
The one-time editor of the legendary hip-hop publications The Source and XXL, Elliott has had a chance to drive discussions and conversations about Hip-Hop culture. You can pretty much name any artist and Elliott has interviewed them at some point from Jay-Z to Drake and more.
I love what Elliott has been able to do in the last 10 to 15 years. He has dominated the digital space of Journalism. When he started Rap Radar (with a little help from Paul Rosenberg) it was more than a Hip-Hop blog. It was one of the few sites that verified an artist in the blog era. He evolved that into Crown and The Rap Radar Podcast, which seemed to be designed to give a closer look at these artists.
“You can pretty much name any artist and Elliot has interviewed them at some point from Jay-Z to Drake and more. “
But what’s even more interesting is his Instagram account. The followers and supporters suspect that Elliott doesn’t sleep at all due to the high volume of posts that occur on his page. Not only are they high volume but the posts are precise and accurate with the information. I have recently seen someone say that Elliott Wilson’s IG page is like the ESPN ticker. I agree.
Due to the Pandemic, Elliott Wilson has seemly taken a break from the Rap Radar podcast. None the less the G.O.A.T. has still been active doing IG interviews and most likely curating playlists for tidal (I don’t know). All I know is I can’t wait for the next Rap Radar interview I’m sure they have something up their sleeve.
