FLOWERS: FAT JOE
I love that career that Fat Joe has in Hip Hop. He’s a celebrated Bronx, NY legend. Joe Crack has a career that has survived multiple eras in Hip Hop. But for some reason, I don’t hear him in a lot of Top 5 debates. It’s always the same guys in these debates 2pac, Biggie, Jay, Nas. Why don’t we put the Fat Gangsta in the Top 5?
Fat Joe is the man known in Hip Hop for being one of the best emcees with one of the Best ears in music. It has been said around the industry that Fat Joe has a talent for selecting great music. Before revolt gave him his show, Fat Joe heard Big Pun rap and knew he was a legend immediately. These two together were unstoppable. Unfortunately, Pun passed and when he did, sort of like the Biggie to his Puff, Joe had to move on.
Fat Joe is one of those legends that is a historian of the genre. Being that Fat Joe is from the birthplace of Hip Hop. He has so much pride that comes through in his records, videos, and interviews. Artists could learn from Joe. The legendary rapper’s first single was Make It Rain when he went indie.
I think we look at Fat Joe as if he needed joe to make music or even to be a dope emcee. Fat Joe proved plenty of people wrong time and time again. Fat Joe has been on major records with our favorite artist. He has given us a legacy of artists outside of Big Pun including Remy Ma, DJ Khaled, and Cool & Dre. That’s why we give out Flowers.
