FLOWERS/ VINCE STAPLES
Vince Staples dropped one of the best albums this year. I don’t believe this project is getting enough credit for how good it is. The album is entitled Ramona Park Broke My Heart. The project is great from front to back and really flows together.
Vince in an interview with Big Boy stated that the album speaks to being in your youth everybody has a place where they grew up and met their first girlfriend and got in their first fight and so on. The project really speaks to that in a powerful way.
One of the things I enjoy the most about this album is how well the album flows together. The production is similar but not repetitive. He has records that are very melodic on this album that I believe will be appealing to a large mass of listeners.
The features are limited for a 16-track album. There’s an appearance from Lil Baby and Ty Dolla $ign. Production includes DJ Mustard, DJ Dahi, and Cardo. Some of my favorite songs are Magic, DJ Quick, and Paper Cuts. But you can really just play this project front to back. It’s a very sold solid piece of work.
Vince Staples gets recognition for so many things including his interviews where he gets a chance to show his personality and opinions. I think that sometimes that side of him is so great we forget he’s an artist and a great one at that. There are people trying to get him to be a comedian. I hope he’s gives us more projects like this before he does that.
