July 26, 2005, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 drops. An introduction to a new style of rap. Much different from the rappers before him Jeezy was part of new era of southern rappers. This was the era of street guys turning rappers and you could hear it in the music. The story of the Snowman goes as follows, Jeezy was a businessman who owned a record label, his artist (in one way or another) gets taken out of the picture, as it can unfortunately go in Jeezy’s line of business. And Then What does Mr.17.5 do? what any other good businessman would do roll up his sleeves and pick the slack artist couldn’t.
SOUL SURVIVOR
Thug Motivation 101 goes on to sell 172,000 first week. Not bad for a businessman turned rapper. Singles like And Then What, Soul Survivor, and My Hood ran the radio. The Album, full of stories from an unfamiliar raspy voice, over trap beats, from producers like Shawty Redd, and Mannie Fresh fit together like a glove.
AND THEN WHAT
Jeezy has gone on to release numerous albums. He’s become a successful rapper, CEO and even more successful businessman.I guess you still can’t ban the Snowman.
