WOP VS. SNOW
Safe to say Verzuz came back with a bang. After a few weeks of being off, Verzuz, created by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, returned with Jeezy vs. Gucci Mane. I immediately got a little worried when I seen the flyer. I didnโt believe it was real because of the long history between the two rappers, but I guess Christmas came early. 8:00 pm, like 2 million other people I tuned in to see what was gonna happen between the two rappers.
SoโฆGucci Mane wasted no time getting to the diss tracks. His first song off the bat was a new song, recorded specifically for Jeezy and specifically for round 1. Jeezy followed up with The Intro to Trap or Die. There was a lot of commentary from Gucci The Glacier including some criticism of Jeezyโs attire and ability to make hits. Gucci even questioned whether Mr.17.5 was from Atlanta.
Through it all, Young had some mild rebudiles and shrugged off most of the disrespect from his long time foe in the rap game. Until Gucci got to his infamous diss track The Truth. Gucci seemed to be having a blast singing the lyrics to the song directly at Young Jeezy. Rubbing in the fact he killed his friend and rapped about it in a song. The tension at that moment was through roof and there was even a little back and forth between the two artist. Somehow, Jeezy had a enough charisma to turn the moment into a time pay respect to slain rappers. This was a moment to remind both artists that they didnโt have to be there. Then boom, โIโm the realest nigga in it you already knowโฆโ Get Your Mind Right Drops.
The There were 5 million dollar chains, real estate talk, and even the DJโs were talking shit to each other. I donโt know who won this Verzuz battle. I guess I could say something corny like โthe culture wonโ or something. As Iโm thinking about it now I do think the fans of Hip Hop were highly entertained. This was one of the better Verzuz, as soon as it went off I said..Damn.
