2chainz’s sixth studio album, SO HELP ME GOD dropped last month and has been in heavy rotation. Chainz began a the roll out a few months back after his Verzuz with Rick Ross. He released the Lil Wayne featured Money Maker. A song dedicated to all of the HBCUs across the country.
QUARANTINE THICK VIDEO
A week before the album release date, Tit drops Quarantine Thick with Mullato. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. Although this isn’t one of my favorite 2chainz Albums it still has some great moments(and has grown on me). Starting with Lambo Wrist, an introduction very fitting from 2chainz. It’s what I expected but it doesn’t feel like the same record.
Grey Area is heat. The song speaks to the experiences of being middle aged. Chainz raps about what he enjoys about being a little older to say the least. Aside from the singles the middle of the album isn’t amazing to me. The Kanye West song had a lot hype before it was released, but those kanye bars don’t hit like they used to. Zip with Kevin Gates, takes 2chainz back to the trap one time. Vampire, a record where 2chainz becomes more open about his coming terms with lost ones and losing sleep over it.
All in all the album isn’t bad at all and maybe it will grow on me. For the moment I give the album a tentative 4/5 and maybe I’ll get back to you and back peddle some things.
