PASSION PROJECT/ TOP RAP ALBUMS SO FAR
PRAY FOR HATI
Mach-Hommy, The elusive artist released an amazing album on May 21st, 2021. It managed to sound new and old at the same time. Released through Griselda Records, the album has features from Westside Gunn all over. Hommy shines a light on the country of Hati with the album. My favorite songs on the album are Rami, Folie A Deux, and Kriminel. The entire album might be considered a classic hip-hop album in due time.
CUSTOMIZED GREATLY 5
Casey Veggies released his project CG5 at the top of 2021 and snuck up on rap fans. The album is melodic and might be one of his most complete projects to date. Casey Veggies isn’t a new artist. He’s been in the game for a little bit and this project compiled all of the things that I like about him on one album. The album is so easy to listen to front to back. I must point out No Feelings and Cold Game. Veggies really got in his bag with a project
LA MAQUINA
Conway The Machine to his talents from Griselda Records to Drum Work his own imprint. He didn’t hold back with the release of La Maquina. Conway displays more layers of his rapping abilities and shows he can’t put in a box with this album. The 11 track album features Atlanta legends 2 Chainz and Ludacris. Some of my favorite records on the album are KD, Clarity, and S.E. Gang. The Whole project is amazing is should get some recognition for Album of The Year.
THE COURSE OF THE INEVITABLE
This year the Punch Line King returned in a major way. Lloyd Banks released COTI back in May. The project is a confirmation that older rappers in the game are keeping the bar high as ever. We spoke a lot about Lloyd Banks in our July Cover story. It’s clear he had a statement to make with this album and he executed it very well.
HALL OF FAME
POLO G, the Chicago younging has the game in his palm and he delivered a great album that lived up to the hype. Polo G has some of the best flows out of the younger artist to me. I love his style and he’s very passionate about the delivery of his lyrics. The album features everyone from Young Thug to Da Baby. Some of my favorite songs are Boom, Go Part 1, and of course Clueless feature Fivio Foreign and Pop Smoke.
