PASSION PROJECT/BABYFACE RAY
Baby Face Ray is a rapper from Detroit that’s been making an impact for a couple of years now. In 2021 he released his project Unfuckwitable which caught a lot of attention. I was familiar with him from songs with another Detroit rapper Icewear Vezzo. It’s clear Baby Face Ray has his own sound. He was going to do that naturally, coming from a place like Detroit. In Hiphop historically no two artists usually sound alike in Detroit and Face keeps the tradition going. He’s next up.
His project Unfuckwitable originally dropped with 7 songs in 2021. The first song Real Niggas Don’t Rap is a great introduction to his sound. He sounds like he’s talking over this hard piano beat. He followed the project up with a deluxe edition of the project that features a dope song with Jack Harlow called Paper Work Party that I love.
Face Continues to make these records effortlessly his sound is a little slower but he still manages to make records that would sound good in the car or at a party. He’s carving out his own lane in the culture and ushering in a new era for Detroit. He’s gained praise from artists like Pusha T, Wiz Khalifa, and Big Sean.
Baby Face Ray followed up Unfuckwitable with Face. The project is a step up from his previous effort. The project features some great songs like Mob, Palm Angels, Palms Itching, and One of my favorites 6 Mile Show featuring Icewear Vezzo. Using the same formula as Unfuckwitable Face released a deluxe version of the Face project. Seven more songs including 100s which is probably one of my favorite songs of the year.
