As Cold As It Gets
Honorable Mention: Roof Went Missing
We battled with adding this song into the TOP 3 due to its uniqueness and strange yet mesmerizing hook. Everyone’s ranking of Roof Went Missing had the track as either their favorite song of the tape or their least favorite song. With this situation, we decided to include it as an honorable mention. Give the song a listen and tells us if you don’t find yourself randomly saying “Roof Went Missing” in Jay2’s distorted voice at least one time within the week. Probably 4 times a week if you have a convertible.
Pros & Cons
Pros: After listening we can’t quite put our finger on what makes this project special but we know there is something fresh about it. Whether its Jay2’s modern sound, whitty bars and punch lines, or his crazy cadences. Jay2’s style of rapping on this tape is Reminiscent of a more bar heavy Lil Keed, which is enjoyable. There are plenty of songs with memorable moments that gives this album plenty of replay value. The tape leaves you eager to see how Jay progresses and grows from this level he is currently on.
Cons: Because of Jay2’s unique sound some of the lyrics are muddy at points and hard to figure out what bar Jay just crooned out. Another nag on the project is it seems more top-heavy with a lot of favorites coming and going before the half-point of the tape is reached. Overall the album is solid!
