Pros & Cons:
Pros: K-otic showcases he is a student of real hip-hop on Anatomy of a Headshot. His meticulous break down of concepts with awe-inducing lyricism and cold delivery are what make you keep returning to this project. Majority of the tracks have features, however they never over power the songs or seem out of place. K-otic creates a moment with each artist separately allowing for the hooks to flow effortlessly to the verses and vice-versa.
Cons: With an album that clearly took a lot of effort and work to create, we would have loved to see the order of some of the songs be rearranged. This would better accomplish a sense of flow between songs. On most listens the album played better on shuffle rather than from Intro to Moth to a Flame. Another harp on this project is the overall finished production of the project. Observing the level K-otic reached on this album, gets you scratching your head wondering how good it could have been if the production reached that same level. All things considered this album has staying power whether from its mesmerizing hooks or bars so complex that you can’t wait to break them down with your friends. We don’t expect this tape to be leaving your rotation anytime soon.
