Pros & Cons:
Pros:Â With a rap name like The Letter M you are bound to raise eyebrows but does he have what it takes musically to keep those new looks engaged. After listening to his latest project Eastside General he definitely has what it takes. On this tape, The Letter M showcases his flows, bars, cadences, and clever punchlines throughout. He gives this album a feeling of importance as he drops snippets and skits preluding and ending some songs that give the project an older feel that most of his peers tend to avoid. He even goes an extra step with the final song by tossing a skit in the middle of the song to break it up as two separate tracks adding to its uniqueness amongst projects created by its peers. The Letter M is definitely an artist to keep track of after his last outing with Eastside General.
Cons: Overall Eastside General is a solid project, however, one of its biggest issues is fluidity. The tape does not feel cohesive and it does take away from the overall listening experience when attempting to play it from front to back. The tracklist just doesn’t seem ordered in a way that each song compliments the next song causing some tracks to seem out of place and even surprising and jarring on the first listen. However, the Letter M has a solid foundation to stand on and we are eager to see where he takes us from here.
