The Scope: Lovecraft Country. Written by Tiffany.
So what’s “The Scope” on the new HBO television series, “Lovecraft Country”? Created by the lovely Misha Green (who also created the television drama series ‘Underground’ which aired on WGN for 2 seasons), and produced by the very well known Jordan Peele. Did I mention how black the cast is? This television show features some of our favorite actors and actresses like, Jurnee Smollet who plays the role of the fearless Letitia Dandridge, Jonathan Majors who plays the role of the military veteran Atticus Freeman, and Courtney B. Vance who plays the role of George Freeman, and many, many more . With there being only 3 episodes that have aired, let me just say this: It’s definitely not your average black historical TV show. While all being based in the 50s, I call it: Black history meets supernatural thriller. Lovecraft Country does not fall short when it comes to grabbing the viewers attention. From all the historic symbolism to the racial injustices, to the suspense and the gruesome monsters, they did not skip a beat. If historical fiction was a person, it would definitely be Lovecraft Country. And your eyes will definitely be glued to the screen. If you don’t believe me, just watch. This isn’t your ordinary show and surely a conversation starter. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season will play out, I can only imagine the type of cliffhanger we’ll get by the end of the season. I guess we’ll all be finding out soon.
