Who is Mach Hommy? Saturday morning, on my way to a meeting, I open my Tidal app and on the front page is a man with dreads wearing a top hat. I press play and it’s nothing that I expected it to be. A vintage east-coast hip-hop sound. Slow drums. The rapper had a slow flow, but it was heat.

Who the fuck is this guy? The Newark, New Jersey Mach-Hommy, has been around for a bit and it seems like I’m just late to the party. He’s already seems to becoming an enigma. Last year in 2019, he asked genius to take down his lyrics because they didn’t have the copyrights.

He’s gotta be doing something right because he’s already had a meeting Jay-Z. I guess that Tidal promotion all makes sense now. His album Mach’s Hard Lemonade (released on a Saturday) has features from Earl The Sweatshirt, Your Old Droog, and others. The 9 track album is available on all streaming platforms, though the deluxe album you can get on his website www.mach-hommy.com for a nice $444.
