Who’s the greatest rapper of all time? Royce Da 5’9” wants to know and is tired of artists saying that they are. In the middle of a debate about the greatest rapper of all time between Royce, Lupe Fiasco, Ransom, RJ Payne, and Mickey Factz things got a little tense.
Lupe claimed that Mickey does everything that Royce does on the mic, except in his opinion Mickey does it better. Royce disagreed about this, and a series of IG posts came from Nickle. Instead of memes, Royce started posting clips of his best songs in the past few years. At least 15 posts of top-tier lyricism and rapping.
Lupe responded with sarcastic comments on the post that didn’t seem to bother Royce too much. But something must have got to him because the posts became more direct and more focused on the Chicago veteran.
These two artists both take lyricism very seriously and are both critical of the culture. They both are underrated, have long careers, and a cult fan base. It’s no wonder they would bump heads. I’m interested in seeing how this plays out for them. With all the things going on in the past week with them it’s hard not to mention that they also have a podcast together.
