Okay, so I'm going to talk about an ongoing debate amongst Erykah Badu Fans, Baduizm, and Mama's Gun, right? And I'm a little bit more Baduizm and in writing this i’m figuring out why, researching both the albums, and learning that. There are just stark differences, and there was a break that Erykah took in between the albums, maybe for some introspection.
Even to listen back, you easily feel and hear the changes between projects. but there are differences, like Badu-ism has a lot of metaphors and allusions to things, and it's very creative in that way, it's very artistic in that way. It's not very literal, it's very figurative, figure of speech kind of things, that makes for great music. Mama's gun is very straight to the point, it seems like it's more straight to it. It seems like just on a direct writing aspect. just when you're thinking about the songs, you know, we're talking about Mama's Gun, when you think about the songs, we're talking about Clever, Booty, Bad Lady, and Green Eyes these songs are very direct.
When I go back and I look at Baduizm, when we're thinking of the other side of the game, on and on, or apple tree, and things like that, those are, like, metaphorical songs in a way, or the approach I might say that. I think that's an interesting concept or just an interesting idea behind which one is better or which one isn't.
Both albums are legendary, and both albums are different. We know that Erykah is not gonna give you the same thing, so what you're expecting to get on Baduizm You’re not gonna get or Mama’s Gun or Worldwide Underground and that’s incredible. I think that's interesting, both albums are great, but you guys tell me what you think. what album do you think is better?
