Joey versus Ray Vaughn and the West Coast has slowly become one of the more entertaining topics in hip-hop for 2025. So, you know, Joey started it off with the song The Ruler’s Back. The song is referencing a Jay-Z line from a song called 22 Twos, “too much West Coast dick-licking”, referring to Kendrick and a lot of his success due to the battle that he had last year. It relates to a lot of West Coast sound that's kind of taken over recently in the hip-hop ecosystem, and a lot of people responded, not just Raven,
But I think it's interesting that Joey took it so directly to Ray Vaughn. He did respond to Daylyt directly, so I shouldn’t be surprised. So recently, they did a cypher. They meaning Ab-Soul, Big Sean, Joey Badass, and Joey Badass’ verse; they had some disses to Daylight and Ray Vaughn.
Ray Vaughn, the next day, drops a record called Hoe Era. That’s very good. It’s a lot of bars over a West Coast bop. The next day, Joey drops The Finals. It's one of the better, if not the best, Joey diss tracks that I've heard. My question now, though, is what made him drop that now, as opposed to maybe one or two months ago when this really kicked off. Maybe he didn’t feel like Ray Vaughn deserved direct shots then. But one thing is for sure, like Joey said, he did not delete it later.
It is almost like Joey kind of took a break. I think it's clear that right now, Joey has the upper hand a little bit. Ray Vaughn’s diss tracks are nothing to sleep on not to mention I feel like Daylyt will have more to say. Joey's looking good coming off the finals. I think we got to wait and see what Ray Bond does specifically
Side note, Reason has also jumped into this. Not very impressed with Reason's response, to be honest with you. But I do understand why he jumped into it. Joey said a dope line about Reason.

But I think it was just a rap line. You know, Joey's making a lot of Top Dawg references in The Finals. TDE is going through a lot of wars right but you guys let me know what you think.
